That certainly helps, although some of the guys they've acquired/brought up since June have been better than the guys they used as subs in May.
It's true the Tigers were short-handed with injuries in May, but I thought Hinch shot himself in the foot a lot with his choice of personnel and lineup choices. That might be more on Harris than Hinch, though. (I mean, who insisted on bringing in Zack Short?).
One thing about Hinch is that he's very patient. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. He really thought Jones would start hitting but it never happened. He kept putting Perez in the lineup even though Perez wasn't hitting, although Perez did start hitting
better toward the end of May before he got hurt. He kept playing McKinstry even though he was in a terrible slump. McKinstry has been hitting much better in June/July.
