The Tigers fell behind early. Although they tied the game, they never took the lead. The Rangers scored a run in the eighth to win the game.
In the top of the first, Brandon Nimmo singled, went to second on a ground out, and scored on a single by Josh Jung.
Danny Jansen led off the top of the third with a home run. Then, Brandon Nimmo walked, Evan Carter walked, Corey Seager walked to load the bases, Josh Jung singled to drive in Mr. Nimmo, and Joc Pederson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Mr. Carter.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jahmai Jones doubled, Riley Greene singled, Spencer Torkelson walked to load the bases, Wenceel Perez singled to drive in Mr. Jones and Mr. Greene, and Hao-Yu Lee singled to drive in Mr. Torkelson. The Tigers were within one run, at 4-3.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kerry Carpenter walked, went to second base on a wild pitch, went to third on a single by Dillon Dingler, and scored as the Rangers got a force out of Mr. Dingler at second base.
In the bottom of the eighth, Jake Burger doubled, and scored on a double by Alejandro Osuna.
The Tigers beat the Rangers last night, and again on Sunday afternoon.
