Beau Brieske could be coming back soon as well.
Ricky Vanasco, who was awful in his recent stint with the Tigers, pitched 1 shutout inning yesterday for Toledo so his AAA ERA remains at 0.00 in 11 appearances (16 innings). The guy is pitching like vintage Mariano Rivera against AAA hitters, but was getting
lit up by major league hitters. He must have some pitch that AAA hitters get fooled by (maybe his curveball?), but major leaguers just lay off it and hammer his mistakes. Classic AAAA player.
I'm getting the impression that Gage Workman is a classic AAAA player as well. He had that mini hot streak to start with, but he's been swinging and missing a lot more since then, which has always been his problem. Major league pitchers are going to brutally
exploit his weaknesses. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Workman is going to help much from here on out. We'll see.
Sadly, Wenceel Perez is looking like a AAAA player as well. He hits way too many groundballs and too few line drives. He has no positional versatility either, he's just a RF and occasional (bad) CF. If you're going to be a backup OF you should at least be
able to hit a little bit or play really good defense. Perez does neither.
I thought Perez would be better than this. Oh well.
