> Boston Red S
> Boston Red Sox 5, Detroit Tigers 4 - final
It was Star Wars Day at Comerica Park, and yes, there were some activities to observe the occasion.
For the first five-and-a-half innings, the hitters for both teams did an impersonation of storm troopers, missing everything.
Then, suddenly, in the bottom of the sixth inning, Colt Keith was hit by a pitch, Jahmai Jones walked, and Matt Vierling hit a grounder to third on which Mr. Keith and Mr. Jones scored, thanks in part to a throwing error by Andruw Monasterio.
In the top of the seventh, Carlos Narvaez walked, Andruw Monasterio singled, and Jarren Duran hit a three-run homer. Then, Masataka Yoshida doubled, Wilyer Abreu singled to drive in Mr. Yoshida, Cedanne Rafaela singled, and Marcelo Mayer singled to drive in Mr. Abreu.
Colt Keith led off the bottom of the eighth with a single, then two outs later, Matt Vierling walked, and Dillon Dingler doubled to drive in Mr. Keith and Mr. Vierling.
The series is scheduled to continue this evening. We will see if the weather permits play. It should, according to the latest reports, but we will see what happens.
