Max Clark is off to a great start at Toledo (.970 OPS through today,  with 3 steals).  I only want him to prove he can hit AAA pitching, then he should get to Detroit quickly.  By my judgement, if he hits anything close to this through the end of May, he should be up.  Let the Parker Meadows era come gracefully to an end.

Speaking of which, Wenceel Perez is also hitting well at Toledo (1.058 OPS).  He can replace Meadows any time, please!

I do wonder how long Jahmai Jones is going to stay on the roster. Because Hinch will only play him against LH’s, he has just 2 AB’s on the season.  And he isn’t a defensive specialist or particularly fast where you would bring him into a game late to pinch run, etc.

Vierling has more positional flexibility, so is likely to get the call off the bench from Hinch more often. I could see the switch-hitting Perez replacing Jones if Hinch isn’t ever going to use Jones against RH’s.

Max Clark with 2 more singles, a sac fly, and a walk tonight in Toledo's 7-1 win at Syracuse.
Clark with 1.009 OPS in 7 games.

Wenceel Perez with a double and a single.  He has a 1.017 OPS in 7 games.

I'd put even money that Clark will be called up by the All-Star break especially if Meadows continues not to hit.

With Keith at 3rd and McGonigle at short, the lineup looks pretty strong, except for the gaping hole in CF.  I don’t expect Clark to hit well for the Tigers this year, but he has a fair chance to hit better than Meadows, and bringing him up (after he proves himself at AAA) will accelerate his development for the future.

I could see Keith eventually replacing Tork at 1B.  Not sure Keith's defense at 3B is up to par.

I hope you're right that McGonigle gets a chance to be starting SS eventually, but I have a feeling the Tigers are planning to have him play 3B regularly in the future.  They're hoping Bryce Rainer or Jordan Yost (last year's 1st-round pick) develops into the future starting SS.

Rainer started at SS tonight for Lakeland and was 0-4 with 2 walks and 3 Ks.
Yost, who is the same age as Konnor Griffin, hasn't been assigned yet.  He might be playing in the Florida Complex League when it starts up.

Max also threw out a runner at home from CF tonight.  On his triple he actually scored on the play when the 2B threw the ball away.
