> Boston Red Sox 4, Detroit Tigers 0 - final
A.J. Hinch had the night off, due to a one-game suspension. However, the Tigers still performed as they have in this series, losing to the Red Sox.
In the top of the third inning, Marcelo Mayer hit an infield single, Carlos Narvaez was hit by a pitch, Caleb Durbin doubled to drive in Mr. Mayer, and Mr. Narvaez scored on a sacrifice fly by Willson Contreras.
In the top of the fourth, Masataka Yoshida singled, Ceddanne Rafaela walked, and Colt Keith committed a fielding error on a grounder by Carlos Narvaez; Mr. Yoshida and Mr. Rafaela both scored on what should have been the third out of the inning.
And that was all the scoring in the game. Jack Flaherty actually pitched a reasonably good game, but his teammates failed to give him any run support, and Mr. Keith failed him on defense as well.
After taking a day off, the Tigers head into Kansas City on Friday, for a weekend series. The Guardians beat the Royals tonight, 3-1, to take the lead in the A.L. Central.
