It was kind of a Bad News Bears day today, down on the farm.

Not one, but two Tigers farm teams were no-hit.  The Dominican Tigers "1" team, and the Lakeland Flying Tigers totaled zero hits between them.  There was a bit of an excuse: they both had shortened games and they only played 13 innings between them.

But who needs hits?  The Dominican Tigers "2" scored 11 runs today, on only 3 hits!  This was a sloppy game in which the Tigers were beneficiaries of 12 walks, a hit batter, and 6 wild pitches.  They did hit two home runs.

As it happens, West Michigan had only 2 hits today, so the bottom 4 teams in the system had only 5 hits between them.  Best to turn the page on this one.

Looks like the West Michigan score I read was unfinished.  They will get a few more hits.

Jackson Jobe started and pitched 4 innings for Erie today, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks with 4 Ks.

Javy Baez started at SS and was 3-4 with 3 doubles and an RBI tonight for Toledo before being lifted later in the game.  Mud Hens are leading 9-4 in the 8th vs. Louisville.
Max Clark hit his 10th homer and has walked twice.

Baez hasn't played CF yet in his rehab assignment yet, but I assume he'll be playing CF for the Tigers after they activate him.
I expect we'll see Baez activated for the upcoming Orioles' series, but he might even be activated tomorrow.

I assume Outman is the likely one to go when Baez is activated but Matt Vierling will turn 30 in a couple of months.

He is hitting .203 with a .576 OPS and has had 285 PA’s this season. Not some small sample size. He has over 1900 career PA’s with a .688 OPS.

Never mind deadline deals to potentially improve the team, this roster needs some cleaning up now.  Vierling should go when Baez comes back.

Not that Outman shouldn’t go too 😆

Dump Outman, Vierling and McKinstry, call up the 2 Maxes and activate Javy.
Trade Torres for whatever you can get at the deadline.

I'd shop Carpenter and Tork around as well.

As I said before the season, if Vierling is playing regularly something is terribly wrong.
