> Cleveland Guardians 5, Detroit Tigers 1 - final

The Guardians only scored five runs.  In June and July, the Tigers' offense could compensate for that.  In late September, that seems to bee too much for the Tigers to overcome.

The Tigers scored the first run of the game in the top of the third inning, when Dillon Dingler singled, went to third on a single by Trey Sweeney, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Parker Meadows.

In the bottom of the third, Brayan Rocchio doubled, and George Valera homered.

In the bottom of the fifth, Brayan Rocchio singled, stole second base, and scored on a single by Steven Kwan.

In the bottom of the seventh, Daniel Schneemann walked, C.J. Kayfus singled, Brayan Rocchio waked to load the bases, and, two outs later, Jose Ramirez doubled to drive in Mr. Schneemann and pinch-runner Petey Halpin.

The Tigers have lost eight games in a row.  They have their last game in Cleveland tonight, although they may face the Guardians in the first round of the playoffs.  Then again, given how they are doing in the last week-and-a-half, they may miss the playoffs entirely.

It certainly was not enough to win this game.

The Tigers had no XBH in this game.
