> Los Angeles Angels 10, Detroit Tigers 6 - final
The Tigers had a 6-4 lead at the end of the seventh inning. Just two more innings to go, and they would have their second win in a row. They could not hold the lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, Colt Keith singled, went to second when Spencer Torkelson was hit by a pitch, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Zach McKinstry.
In the top of the third inning, Logan O'Hoppe singled, Zach Neto walked, and Vaughn Grissom singled to erive in Mr. O'Hoppe and Mr. Neto. Mr. Grissom made it to second base as the Tigers concentrated on trying to get Mr. Neto out at the plate. When Wade Meckler singled, Mr. Grissom tried to score, but he was out at the plate.
In the top of the fourth, Jo Adell homered, then Donovan Walton doubled, and scored on a double by Zach Neto. The Angels had a 4-1 lead.
Colt Keith led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Zach McKinstry.
In the bottom of the fifth, Matt Vierling doubled, Wenceel Perez walked, Kevin MvGonigle tripled to drive in Mr. Vierling and Mr. Perez, Dillon Dingler walked, Riley Greene walked to load the bases, and Jahmai Jones singled to drive in Mr. McGonigle. The bases were still loaded, with none out, but Spencer Torkelson and Zach McKinstry both struck out, and Hao-Yu Lee flew out to end the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, Wenceel Perez hit a solo home run, giving the Tigers a 6-4 lead.
In the top of the eighth, Jo Adell grounded out, Oswald Peraza singled, and Donovan Walton grounded out, giving the Angels a runner on first base with two outs. That's when the roof fell in. Logan O'Hoppe doubled to drive in Mr. Peraza, Zach Meto singled, Mike Trout walked to load the bases, and Vaughn Grissom hit a grand-slam home run to drive in Mr. O'Hoppe, Mr. Neto, and Mr. Trout.
Jose Siri led off the top of the ninth with a home run.
It's a shame to waste such a good showing by the Tigers' offense.
The series will continue tonight.
