This is for the fans who say the Tigers' bullpen lacks swing-and-miss arms. Waites is a hard thrower who's racked up 14.2 Ks per 9 innings in the minors. He's also kinda wild at 5.9 walks per 9.

And of course it's just a minor league contract.  Always good to bring in extra arms to spring training without taking up a roster spot.
