The Tigers sent Tarik Skubal out to pitch on Sunday. Unfortunately, he got no run support. Also unfortunately, as soon as he left the game, the bullpen gave the game away.
The Phillies took the lead in the top of the third inning, when J.T. Realmuto was hit by a pitch, went to second base on a ground out, and scored on a two-out single by Kyle Schwarber.
In the top of the sixth, Bryce Harper hit an infield single, Keider Montero came on to pitch, Alec Bohm singled, the runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Edmundo Sosa, Brandon Marsh got an intentional walk, J.T. Realmuto doubled with two outs to drive in Mr. Harper, Mr. Bohm, and Mr. Marsh, Mr. Realmuto advanced to third base on a throwing error by Kevin McGonigle, and Bryson Stott hit an infield single to drive in Mr. Realmuto.
The Tigers will resume play on Friday in Anaheim.
