Morton bandwagon crashes into the curb

Charlie Morton has given up 6 runs in 4 innings today to the Mets including a Juan Soto grand slam to send him to the showers. Kind of annoying because he battled back after loading the bases with no one out and got two straight strikeouts. He also had Soto at two strikes. No idea why he’s throwing anything near the plate in that situation.

Second straight crappy start for Morton.

Mets lead 6-3 in the 4th.

Fortunately, Manaea for the Mets sucks too, and the Tigers have narrowed the lead to 6-5, still batting in the 4th!

Morton only goes 3 innings today.  Gave up 3 runs on 4 hits plus 3 walks.  Only had 2 K’s.  Hinch takes him out after 72 pitches.  

That’s 3 bad starts in a row for Morton. I mean, if he can’t at least go 5 against the White Sox, not sure how he’s going to do against playoff opposition. Sigh.

Melton is being used in the 5th inning today, FYI. So he won’t be in the Finnegan role for this game.

Tigers lead 4-3, batting in the 5th.

Tigers lose 6-4.  Only a Skubal start saves them from being swept in the series.

Just when we start saying nice things about Kahnle again, he has a poor outing.

Morton looks done.  Losing Jobe, Olson, and Cobb never getting healthy, really f——d over our rotation.

Also, Tork has disappeared lately.  His OPS is down to .786 and batting average at .234.

He can’t hit righties.  We need a better 1B option vs. righties.  Might want to consider starting Keith at 1B against righties.
