This afternoon's lineup vs. 26-year-old righty Kumar Rocker (3.83 ERA in 14 starts, 16 games overall).
I remember when Rocker was super hyped as the top pitching prospect in college at Vanderbildt a few years ago.  Things haven't exactly gone as expected for him.  He has a 4.62 ERA in 33 career MLB games.  He's been pitching a bit better lately.  He tossed 6 shutout innings vs. Toronto in his last start.

  1. Kevin McGonigle (L) SS
  2. Dillon Dingler (R) DH
  3. Kerry Carpenter (L) RF
  4. Riley Greene (L) LF
  5. Spencer Torkelson (R) 1B
  6. Colt Keith (L) 3B
  7. Zach McKinstry (L) 2B
  8. Jake Rogers (R) C
  9. James Outman (L) CF

Outman has been solid defensively in CF for the Tigers, and he has hit 3 homers with the Tigers since joining them, but he has mostly lived up to his name as a hitter.  He strikes out 44% of the time and is hitting .156.  I kind of want to see Ben Malgeri get an extended look as the everyday CF.  Outman can come in as a defensive replacement.

Looks like Riley is just making sure everyone understands his All-Star selection was justified as he is only a double away from the cycle this afternoon.

Both a two-run homer and a two-run triple.  3-3 with 4 RBI’s.

6-2 Tigers in the 6th.

Greene just had a chance to hit for the cycle in the top of the 9th but the Rangers intentionally walked him after Vierling tripled with 2 outs.  Boooo!  🙂   Tork grounded out to end the threat.  Tigers lead 6-3 going into the bottom of the 9th.
Will 3 runs be enough BISN?

Jansen with a 1-2-3 9th. Tigers win 6-3 and are now ten games under .500. Yay? :)

No drama as Jansen sets them down 1-2-3 in the 9th for the save and the Tigers win 6-3.
5-1 road trip for the Tigers.

I mean, a road trip where they win 5 of 6 is about as as good as it gets, needless to say. Now they come home for 6 before the All-Star break. If they go 5-1 there, we might be in business.

Tigers have 3 at home vs. the A's Tues-Thurs. and 3 at home vs. the Phillies Fri-Sun.  I'll be happy with a 4-2 homestand.
Skubal could get 2 starts (Tues and Sun).   I hope Valdez only gets 1 start.

The A's are banged up as well.  They don't have Tiger-killer Brent Rooker (who is out for the season), Langeliers is dealing with a thumb issue, and they don't have Soderstrom or Wilson, who are on the IL.  Kurtz will be their biggest threat (and he is a serious threat), but we can probably pitch around him if needed.

Unfortunately, we won't miss Sanchez in the Phillies' series.  He'll be scheduled to pitch on Saturday.  We might miss Wheeler.
