Brieske had a lost season this year.  He struggled right out of the gate and then got hurt.  He was pretty good in 2024 especially during the 2nd half playoff run where he became part-time closer and was throwing 100-mph sometimes.

Yes, if Brieske is healthy, I think it’s a good move to bring him back. He’ll only just turn 28 next April.

I wonder if the Tigers will try to re-sign Jason Foley to a minor-league contract and invite him to ST?
I've read some other teams are interested him, though.  He's coming back from shoulder surgery so maybe the Tigers didn't think he'd be worth bringing back.  Too bad, I like Foley.  He was fun to watch pitch.  He could throw a 99-100 mph sinker and get tons of groundballs when he was on.  If you needed a DP grounder, Foley was a good candidate to get one.  He could melt down sometimes and the grounders would turn into hits, but he was a decent reliever.  I hope he can bounce back.

Not sure about Foley, but Alex Lange is staying in the Central division. The KC Royals signed him yesterday.

And Lange will have 40 saves and an All-Star appearance for the Royals next year…

Ok, not likely.  If Fetter couldn’t fix Lange it’s unlikely the Royals will, but maybe if Lange can stay healthy he can put it together.

I’m not sure Lange needs to be fixed.  He was a solid major league pitcher from 2021-23 and below average but close to it in 2024, before he got hurt.  You have to be pretty confident in your bullpen depth to think Lange isn’t one of your best 8 relievers.  Or, the Tigers know something about his health that we don’t.

Lange has always had control issues. He’s got a wicked curveball but sometimes has no idea where it’s going.  His fastball is in the mid-90s but is hittable.

He started losing it before he got hurt.
