Dominican Republic dominates Tigers

The Tigers traveled to the Dominican Republic, to play the World Baseball Classic team from the Dominican Republic yesterday.  The highlight for the Tigers came in the top of the first inning, when Kevin McGonigle led things off with a home run.  Mr. McGonigle also singled in the second to drive in Zach McKinsstry and Thayron Liranzo.

It went downhill from there, with the Tigers losing to the Dominican team, 12-4.

The Dmomincan Republic scored three rusn in the secon innin, five runs in the forth inning, and three runs in the fifth inning.

Ty Madden gave up three runs on four hits and three walks in two innings of work.  He struck out one.

30-year-old Matt Seelinger llowed no runs and no hits while getting the first two outs of the third inning.  He walked one, and he struck out one.

27-year-old lefty Brent Hurter got the last out of the third inning, and stuck around for the fourth, though he only got two outs in the fourth.  He was charged with five runs on five hits, including three home run.  He got one strikeout.

27-year-old Brenan Hanifee gave up three runs on five hits  in 1 1/3 innings.  He struck out one.

30-year-old lefty Bryan Sammons gave up one run on one hit and one walk in 2 1/3 innings.  He struck out one.

24-year-old lefty Johan Simon got the last two outs in the eighth.

Today, some Tigers are still in the Dominican Republic, for a seccond game against that team today, while others are in Lakeland to face the Wold Baseball Classic team from Panama.
