24-year-old righty starter Troy Melton has been pitching great for Toledo recently. He had a rough first couple of outings after being promoted from Erie, but he's been lights out since then.
He's allowed only 2 runs on 13 hits with 32 Ks and only 4 walks in his last 4 starts (21.2 IP).
Melton throws his fastball in the 95-97 mph range with decent movement. He has mix of breaking pitches and a change-up.
The Tigers might want him to add a sinker to the arsenal.
Melton looks more like what the Tigers thought Matt Manning would become. Keep an eye on him as a candidate for the rotation next year. He might get a look by the Tigers later this season in the bullpen if he keeps pitching well in AAA.
