Harris hasn’t said a word publicly and I’m sure he’s busy preparing for the upcoming MLB draft…

But i’m thinking in light of Verlander‘s retirement announcement today… at the end of the season after he “gives it his all this year”… Combined with Skubal going public today and saying he really wants the Tigers to be buyers at the deadline because he thinks they have the talent and now that everyone is healthy, they should make a run at it…

I think Harris is going to be run out of town if he doesn’t at least try to win this season. Assuming the Tigers continue their good play the rest of this month of course.

Presenting this as an objective analysis of the situation and how both fans and players will react. Not necessarily what he *should * do.

The Tigers will hang on to Skubal, Mize, Flaherty, etc. and finish just short of a playoff spot.   That's just our luck.

I really think Skubal needs to be traded regardless of where the Tigers are in the standings at the deadline.
I can see keeping Mize with the hope of re-signing him, although he probably won't accept the Tigers' qualifying offer and will test the market.
I think it's at least 50-50 that Flaherty gets traded.
Torres won't be traded because he won't be healthy enough at the deadline.
Darkhorse candidates to be traded are Finnegan, Jansen, Carpenter, D. Anderson, McKinstry and even Tork, plus Jung and M. Anderson from the minors.

I just don’t think Harris will take that many risks and trade a bunch of people. Remember, it’s his job on the line and I don’t think there’s any way he believes this team is in need of anything resembling a rebuild.

If they keep winning in July and somehow make it back to .500 or at least a few games from the division lead, I could see him moving someone like Flaherty and getting someone else who can help in another area because starting pitching is a strength.  But I think there’s almost zero chance he trades a whole bunch of key players.

Even if the Tigers fall flat later in the month.
I think with Jobe coming back, Clark probably on his way up soon and most of the core still being pretty young, he will just do his tweaking thing again and say it was the injuries that prevented the Tigers from getting a playoff spot again.

I don't like it, but I think you are exactly right.  Barring a huge winning or losing streak in the next two weeks, that's exactly what will happen.

Tigers are within a few games of a playoff spot now.  They are back in the race thanks to so many bad teams in the AL (not just the Central).  They might actually be buyers now.
