Tonight's lineup vs. veteran lefty and former Met David Peterson (6.45 ERA in 19 appearances, 11starts overall, 8.16 ERA in 3 starts with the Cubs):
Tigers going with a righty-heavy lineup. No Outman or McKinstry, thank goodness!
Kerry Carpenter did not pull a hammy last night but has been dealing with a bruised heel so Hinch took him out for precaution in the 10th.  Carpenter is not expected to go on the IL.  As badly as Carpenter has been hitting we won't miss him much.  
Framber Valdez (4.10 ERA in 19 starts) on the mound for the Tigers.  Let's hope the good Valdez shows up and he keeps the ball on the ground and not up in the Wrigley Fiejd winds.

Lee batting 3rd?  

Lee - .762 vs LH’s
Tork - .797 vs LH’s

I think I’d move Tork up in the lineup. And given Peterson hasn’t pitched very well, he might not be around long.  But I’m guessing this is Hinch’s 12D chess strategy. When they bring in a RH to replace Peterson early, he goes to Keith on the bench and then he’s the one hitting 3rd. 

Another option would simply be to start Keith in the first place and let him get some at bats against a not so tough LH. But I know that’s crazy talk.

 It’s ok batting Tork higher in the lineup vs. lefties.
3rd or 4th is fine.  He shouldn’t bat above 7th vs. righties.  

I suspect Keith will pinch hit at some point for Lee or Malgeri.  I hope Hinch doesn't pinch hit Outman or McKinstry but he probably will. I wonder if Carpenter is available to pinch hit if absolutely needed?  He can't run right now, though.  He can waddle.

It’s also frustrating that we’re doing almost nothing against one of the worst starters in MLB.

One of the most lifeless games of the season for the Tigers.  They trail 9-0 in the top of the 7th.  Couldn't score against a 6+ ERA pitcher (who has an 8+ ERA with the Cubs).
Just forget it and move on and try to win the series tomorrow.

Now Mckinstry’s pitching in the bottom of the 7th. 

The goal here should be to move Rogers to the mound at some point and then have him hit a homer. I’d have to think it’d be the first AL pitcher homer by someone not named Ohtani since pre-NL DH. 

Rogers is due to lead off in the top of the 8th.

Jake with a shutout inning!   Too bad he didn't hit a homer.
Tigers lose 11-2.  Move on and win tomorrow and we go 4-2 on the road trip and then play 4 vs. the struggling Royals in Detroit.
