coming events, anniversary, and website

It's been a while since we've done anything big... so we're running a
major Pick It! event on Saturday, feb 4th! It's going to be bigger,
more comprehensive, and better organized than anything we've ever done
before. There will be picking, tool making, competitions, and even
prizes. We're still looking for volunteers to help out, respond if
you're interested.

Also, the next meeting is our first anniversary meeting! To thank
everyone who's helped build us up over the past year and to celebrate
everything we're going to do in the next, I'm picking up a bunch of
thai food from sala for the meeting. We don't normally ask people to
rsvp to the monthly meetings, but a headcount will help me estimate
how much food we're gonna need, as well as dietary preferences.

Finally, if you haven't noticed, there's finally some stuff at
http://detroitlocksport.com We're still pretty light on content (and
dear god, could we use some copy editing on what's there!), so if
you've always wanted to be a blogger, now's your chance to shine! Just
drop me a line and I'll set you up with an account. Also, the
registration is open on the forums, so go ahead and sign up for those,
too! I'm still trying to figure out how to integrate user accounts
across wp, phpbb, and the wiki, so for now you'll need a seperate
account for each. Hopefully that will change in the future and we'll
be able to use a single login for each.
