Hi all,

The next revolution is here.

Why do I say "the next revolution is here"?  Twitter uses Scala.  LinkedIn uses Scala.  Facebook uses Erlang (if you're thinking, "Where on earth would Facebook use Erlang?" their chat client is written in Erlang).  Google's famous map/reduce algorithm comes straight from functional theory. Microsoft uses F# for its XBox Live platform. C# has lambdas and Java soon will.  The functional programming revolution is really here.

So here's your chance to find out more about functional and if it makes sense for the work you're doing today (hint: I bet it will).  We're holding a day long conference touching on all things functional.  We will have speakers on Erlang, F#, Scala and Clojure and I'm sure a few of them could help people get a good start on Haskell for those who care to look into that.

November 9, 2013 at the Historic Century Theater in Detroit, we're going to do our best to help people become part of the next revolution in software development.  If you're interested in more details, feel free to contact me or check out our website (http://www.glfpc.org).
