Riding from Sterling Heights to Ferndale (15 Mile Rd. & Dequindre Rd. to 9 Mile Rd. & Woodward).
About 10 miles, takes roughly 40-45 minutes.

Traffic at the 7am hour is not too bad, but need to watch cars flying in and out of parking lots and side streets along Dequindre Rd.
Riding back at the 5pm hour is a little worse due to increase in traffic.

I would rate this route as dangerous as there are a lot of parking lot entrances and side streets from 15 Mile Rd. to Lincoln Rd. on Dequindre.   Any other suggestions?  I've considered Campbell/Hilton Rd.

Your best bet is to get into the subdivisions and neighborhoods either in Madison Heights or Royal Oak as fast as you can and avoid the main roads. I'd even stay off Campbell in Royal Oak; the lanes are narrow and the pavement is awful.

Maybe try this:

Depending on traffic, the sidewalks on Maple/Stephenson/Dequindre may be a good choice, but the other 2/3 of the ride will be really enjoyable.

Be safe.

Hey Everett,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I'll have to give those routes a try. Once I get into the subs I'll have to remember to turn right/left....

Thanks,
