According to the latest research, brittle bone with fragility fractures is turning out to be a serious complication of long-standing diabetes mellitus. In fact, patients with diabetes have a 2- to 6-fold higher risk of bone fractures than people without diabetes of the same age. The reasons for this are complex and not yet sufficiently understood. We are a team of medical doctors, epidemiologists, geneticists, engineers and biologists from all across Europe and various scientific fields. In the FIDELO project we are training 14 Early Stage Researchers in an interdisciplinary fashion to tackle the challenges of diabetic bone disease from various angles and with the newest technologies available.

FIDELIO aims to train the next generation of scientists in order to tackle the challenges of diabetic bone disease from various angles and with the newest technologies available.
