Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the hormone responsible for body hair growth. The proteins around your follicles allow testosterone and DHT to bind to them, resulting in hair growth. This natural process becomes a problem when DHT binds to the proteins and clings on for too long, suffocating your follicles, and making the growing hair much weaker on output. Luckily, there are ways to block DHT: natural ingredients can prevent DHT from clinging onto your follicles, while stimulating hair growth.
How do I wash it off?
We recommend using a clarifying shampoo and washing your scalp twice to get all the product out. If you still experience greasiness, please re-wash your hair until the grease is completely gone. If you are having trouble getting the product out of your hair within 2 shampoo washes, this could also mean that you are using too much! We recommend reducing the amount used by half to make it easier to wash out. Continue to adjust the amount accordingly until there is no lingering grease post-wash.
Can it be used on color-treated hair?
It is not specifically formulated for color-treated hair. Having said that, many of our customers with color-treated hair use it without any issue.
We seek to elevate scalp care in the haircare industry where it is often neglected. With this, our products including our Rosemary Scalp Treatment seek to encourage scalp care + frequent scalp massages. The scalp is the last layer of the skin to receive nutrients essential for hair growth. This is why our products are developed + formulated to topically nourish the follicles for optimal growth.
Is it good for sensitive scalps?
For sensitive scalps that experience irritations or reactions such as inflammation, irritation, itching, redness or throbbing, we recommend using only our Rosemary Scalp Treatment.
For sensitive scalps with problematic scalp issues, we recommend using our Problematic Scalp Treatment with caution. Problematic scalp issues include: psoriasis, eczema, acne, etc. However, if your scalp is easily irritated or reactive (see above), especially with essential oils, we do not recommend using our Problematic Scalp Treatment.
Always perform a patch test before applying our products. Natural + herbal products can still cause adverse reactions if you are allergic to a specific ingredient. Do not use if you have any nut allergies. Discontinue use right away if there is an adverse reaction.
What is the difference between this and Problematic Scalp Treatment?
It is made specifically for accelerating your hair growth. Our Problematic Scalp Treatment is made specifically for combating scalp irritations (such as itchiness, dryness, dandruff and flakes) while supporting your hair growth.
Can I use Minoxidil with it?
We recommend you consult your health care professional when using Minoxidil. Our products are safe to use in general, however Minoxidil itself may have restrictions. With topical application, it is commonly recommended not to use anything else especially in the same areas of application as Minoxidil.
Can I use a laser cap with it?
Due to the risk of increased sensitivity with your scalp from laser treatment, we encourage you to first consult your health care professional before use.
How to use: Castor oil is thick, and so you can try mixing it with a carrier oil (jojoba, coconut, grapeseed, etc.) in a bowl to dilute it. Section your hair and massage the oil mixture onto your scalp with gentle pressure to stimulate blood flow. Leave the oil on your scalp for up to an hour, then shampoo it out using a sulfate-free shampoo. If your hair still feels greasy, shampoo it again and condition it as you normally would.
How to use: Generously spray this leave-in conditioner on clean damp hair. Or make your own DIY mixture by melting down one or two tablespoons of coconut oil, three drops of lavender oil, and one cup of water. When spraying either one, focus on mid-lengths to ends of the hair. To finish, blow dry or air-dry.
How to use: Always opt for EVOO because it's incredibly rich in nutrients and moisturizing. Pro tip: Warm it up by placing the container in a warm bowl of water so it penetrates your hair as a mask. Apply it to the driest parts of your hair and gently massage it onto the scalp, but avoid putting too much if your scalp tends to be oily. Leave it onto your hair for 30 minutes before shampooing it out, and condition as normal.
How to use: William Gaunitz, FWTS, certified trichologist and founder of Advanced Trichology Products, recommends diluting rosemary oil with a carrier oil (like jojoba or coconut oil) before applying because it is highly concentrated and will irritate the scalp if applied directly. Massage the concoction gently onto your scalp, focusing on areas with hair loss or thinning. For a deeper treatment leave it on for longer than 30 minutes. Otherwise, rinse it out after about half an hour, and shampoo thoroughly using a sulfate-free shampoo, then condition as you normally would.
How to use: Choose a cold-pressed avocado oil that is enriched with nutrients. Pro tip: Warm it up by placing the container in a bowl of warm water. It will help the product penetrate the hair better. When applying, lightly coat your fingertips and target the areas that you need the most. If you have an itchy scalp, rub the oil onto your head. For split ends, rub it onto the tips of your hair, as well as the driest parts. Lightly work your way up the hair as needed. Use it as a preshampoo treatment, then wash it out using a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
How to use: If your strands tend to get dry or frizzy, add a few drops of this oil to your palms and lightly coat the lengths of your hair after showering. Whether you blow- or air-dry, it will help reduce frizz and improve hydration without weighing it down.
As one of the richest oils, macadamia is great at penetrating the hair shaft and softening very thick or curly hair. This product has therapeutic properties that revitalize heat-damaged hair, provide UV protection, and even extend the life of color treatments.
How to use: Take a dime-size dollop of virgin cold-pressed macadamia oil. Rub it between your palms and then smooth it throughout your dry hair. Pro tip: Pay careful attention to getting the oil to the ends of your hair to help repair split ends and damage.
