We are taking a serious look at accessibility. It seems that when a zoom is large and a window has a smaller height, the calculators become unusable. For instance, using Chrome visit https://www.desmos.com/fourfunction, zoom to 200% (the setting WCAG 1.4.4 requires), and shrink the height of the browser to around 250px: the output window basically vanishes. The scientific calculator behaves similarly. The graphing seems to be better behaved, with the equation bar shifting positions.

I suppose the claim could be made that calculators fit the exception for two dimensional content (note 2 at https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/reflow.html#success-criterion), but then as I understand it scroll bars should appear when highly zoomed on small windows.

I know Desmos puts a lot of effort into a11y support, so I'm guessing I'm not understanding something. Can someone please explain?

Thank you!

Hi Michael,

I think the quickest way to get a more authoritative answer than I'll be able to give is to write into access...@desmos.com. Steve, our head of a11y, will have more intelligent things to say about your questions than I will.
