compatibility with portable contacts aka opensocial

Hi,

I'm investigating contacts and calendaring standards and protocols for
my bachelor thesis[1] and found to my horror that while desktop couch
has a json schema for contacts it is incompatible with the json schema
of portable contacts[2] which is in turn a part of open social.

What is the status of desktop couch would a schema change or migration
be possible? Portable contacts is used by many web services[3] and
several free PIM apps plan to implement it.

Related to this: Google just published its new calendar api[4], which
also comes with a JSON schema.
