- I use an app for 3D Printing called a "slicer" who prepares the file for 3D printing that would consistently crash on my Windows 11 setup during slicing (after 5 to 10 seconds max), but not on a virtual machine installed with VirtualBox (Windows 10)
0xc0000005 IS BACK! The new CPU I RMAed was recieved in mid Nov 2023. With all settings in default, the computer was fine for few months, until last week. Now I have more than 10 errors in event viewer that are 0xc0000005 from 16 Feb to 24 Feb, crashing my running applications and gave me BSOD once. A few times of Status Access Violation in chrome while watching videos. I expect it would be more severe in the coming days, just like what I experienced last year. All the old feelings are coming back to me, I hate to be facing this mess again.
Hi @KCLam , I live in Hong Kong too. Having this issue for 2 months now. I contacted the company that built my PC and asked for a replacement upgrade to i9-14900k and just pay the difference. Hope we can finally resolve it! Would love to connect!
@LoloWiwi Thank you so much for this awesome thread. Everything is here.
Good point, but irrelevant (for others). Peoples have the same problem with 1200W power supply etc. Nextly various motherboard manufacturers. But what is the same? Processor 'i9 13900k' and applications using DX12 causing BOSD or 'out of video memory'.
But when a CPU stress-test is launched on Windows desktop and is crashing, or when Prime95 is launched from a bootable usb key and is crashing when stress testing on smallest or small prime numbers, the power supply is not the one responsible for the crashes
Update: Just got the 14900K, reset BIOS, enabled XMP II, disabled multicore enhancement as per usual, installed Win 11 again and Nvidia driver installed without any issues on first try. Everything else is the same so it really was a borked 13900KF.
(13900K) I have all the same issues that you fine folk have listed. SVID Behavior setting brought a lot of stability but also brought up something really really odd, my windows now says it is no longer active lol. Even with the product key and ID listed. (Also still get the occasional access violation on chrome here and there, just submitted for RMA, wish me luck!)
To get the MB to accept the newly released 13th gen CPU at the time, I had to purchase an Intel Celeron CPU (comes in handy again later) just to boot into BIOS and carry out a BIOS update, with 13900k now re-installed the sytem would boot to OS, a little unknown hassle but got though it. System operated great as expected.
I started to notice some OS problems and Apps crashing, I thought at the time were caused by Win11 Updates, updating my BIOS, MB Firmware and Intel ME Update seemed to have calmed things down a little but progrssively over the next month or so things were getting progressivlly worse, Apps were crashing more and more often, Windows Updates will fail to install and it seemed like my OS was becoming more corrupt, it was getting so bad that I wrote batch files to run all the usual sfc commands and DISM tools to regain some kind of integrity.
May 2023
the BSOD's were very regular at this point and I was at the height of frustration trying to find out what was wrong so i could fix the issue, this frustration resorted in a clean installation of Windows, I went full wipe, formatted my whole drive to avoid any risks of this returning, on OS installation it would BSOD, Kernal Errors, Access Violations etc, I couldnt even install windows!
I deployed overseas and returned December 2023, hoping that by that time a new BIOS, Firmware, Windows Update or any kind of update for that matter had been released but no, nothing worked, this had to be a hardware issue but what? only my RAM is old (from 2017) so i bit the bullet and upgraded to DD5.
Feeling like I had just wasted a lot of money Windows would still not install, my thoughts were, lets go back to the beginning of when the issues started, what did I change... the CPU and MB subsequently to take the new 13th gen in its 1700 socket, from that I re-installed my trusty Intel Celeron and sucessfully installed windows, this was it, this was the answer, something is wrong with my CPU and from everything I could gather it let me to beleive the Memory Controller had failed, I contacted my retailer and they agreed to RMA it, not knowing how long this process would take, I purchased from them next day delivery another 13900k OEM (not boxed retail type), they replied that they tested the processor and it was found to be fauly, they could not reimburse me and can only offer a replacement and sent it immediatly before I could reply, now I have 2x 13900k's with the OEM CPU installed and running great again I thought all my problems were solved.
The crashing Apps and BSOD's gradually returned, am I that unlucky? is the MC dead in this CPU now too? after trawling through the internet for solutions and simular cases I noticed that my Windows 11 had decided that it was no longer Active, how strange? after 3 days of searching for my key I could not find it anywhere, I was always so good at keeping it in my Motherboard box (it will turn up somewhere, i'm sure), I gave up looking and purchased a new key from Microsoft but that key would keep giving errors saying that it didnt work, after contacting MS Support a tech spent an hour trying to run sfc, DISM, Windows Imaging Tool (they would fail or crash), he'd been on the phone for quite some time then the line went quiet and had another tech answer saying "welcome to microsoft support, how can I help". I couldnt beleive it and through post investigation, it was office closing hour and the first tech had just hung up without a word and went home.
Feeling determined after everything i've been though I kept persisting on my search for answers, it was at this point I found this forum thread, could it really be faulty cores all this time?, I installed Process Lasso.exe and ran it selecting apps to run on one core at a time... P-Core 4 and P-Core 5 would crash the app, I set all applications to run all on all cores exept 4&5 and there has been no issues. I have contacted Intel for RMA and after sending them the details they do not support warrenty on OEM processors (tray processors) these are the ones that dont come in a retail box) and said to contact my original retailer so thats the stage I'm at, I have installed the spare 13900k and everything is running just fine again after reimaging my OS and finding my Windows 11 see's that its already active (didnt even need to put the new key in!) , how long will this CPU last? Its a waiting game and still waiting for a response from retailer, I dont want a replacement 13900k, I'm completely exhausted and done with 13th gen, 14th gen it will have to be.

I already search in the frum, internet and more, try every solution i found and just, nothing worked.
What i do now?
We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop due to the error while launching. Would you mind sharing the version of Photoshop you're using? Which CPU do you have on the computer? Please ensure you have all available Windows updates installed on the computer.
I allready try this method of controlled folder, didn't worked. Now, is the Ps 22.0 version, i have all the windows updates instaled, my processor is a Phenon II X4 955, The processor or my computer is not the problem, but the instalation of Photoshop with packagins left out. So help me, in trying to work here! I'm living in Brazil, the cost of Adobe is expensive bro. Have a poor suport that dot not work, of a company this size it's a joke.
Yeah, i knew it you guys allways want to transfer the responsability. My processor is fine and have support to the app. It's working okay before the automatic update, now, nothing is working anymore. I already had said that the problem was in the program and the instalation packages with problems and peaces missing.
This it's been a dead end until now
The recent version of Photoshop (v 22.x) requires a actual CPU that supports SSE 4.2. Your processor came out about 12 years ago and doesn't support this feature. So your processor doesn't match the system requirements.
That's okay Axel, thnak you, but how i have said, the processor and the app had just working fine in the 22.x version earlier, but the last two atualization justo not worked. Soo i got back to the 22.0.1 version os photoshop, changed some configurations, desativated automatic update and now it's working just fine. Thank You for trying to help you all, but this is just problematic and in part, injust. But thank u
It only lets me install photoshop 22.0, I can't install a previous version. Apparently my computer does not pull that update so I must install some previous photoshop. But I don't know where to download photoshop 21.
The recent version of Photoshop (v 22.x) requires a actual CPU that supports SSE 4.2. It seems that your CPU doesn't support SSE 4.2.In this case you have to go back to Photoshop v21.25. This version should be running on your system.
