Vermont Design Professionals,
As a follow up to last week's meeting, here is a summary of the
discussion relating to the direction of the group for 2008:
We looked at VDP's past year and assessed our current position.
- The number of subscribers to the announcement list continues to
grow, it is now above 80.
- The number who attend meetings in person has not seen much growth.
- Meetings have been attended by as few as two and as many as a dozen
members.
- Meetings in have been very beneficial for those who did attended,
regardless of general attendance.
In looking forward, we determined:
- Meetings should continue on their current schedule (the last Tuesday
of each month).
- Scheduling meeting topics and events should be handled by different
members each month.
- Scheduling should be considered two to three months in advance.
- More informal sessions will be considered in order to build
community.
FEBRUARY MEETING
Forget about your computer. Pick up some markers and express ideas in
a fast-paced game of Pictionary. This informal session will allow us
to step back from taking design and graphic arts so seriously. Bring a
snack to share, but illustration experience is not required.
MARCH MEETING
Design Rejects
You work hard to communicate your client's message to their audience.
Sometimes, the client steers the project in a completely different
direction that you'd originally defined. Bring in your solution to a
problem, and also the solution that ultimately was implemented. We'll
review the differences and discuss how we can more effectively
communicate with our clients and with our client's audience.
