Due to issues at my end, I've had to replace several of these DesignJet 510 Formatter Boards over the last few years.  I have purchased all my boards from Designjetpartfast.  The price is low and fair compared to others I've found on the internet.  Boards received have always worked and my experience dealing with Thomas & Designjetpartsfast has been excellent.  Thank you Designjetpartsfast.

Our DesignJet 510 HP-GL/2 card failed. Tom was very helpful in quickly sending us a card and answering questions so we could get the plotter working again.
 Very good experience. Thank You!

Our plotter failed just after putting new roll of paper on. Just a red herring as the formatter card failed. Contacted Tom and we had the replacement the next day in the AM, I was able to get the exchange unit out (for return) the same day.
Plotter booted up and was on line working first try after install.
Would highly recommend Tom's services and quick response.
Thank you.

Great customer service! I ordered a plotter card and he noticed it was often ordered incorrectly. Gave me a call and we got it all worked. Item arrived 2 days later!

We had a complicated problem with a wide carriage HP DesignJet printer.  The repair was extremely  difficult to diagnose.  Turns out it needed 2 parts and also had a broken trailing cable guide – three issues in total.  We found Tom Bush and  DesignJet Parts Fast by doing a search for how to repair the HP DesignJet on You Tube.  Previous to contacting Tom, our local HP plotter repair guy gave us an estimate for repair in excess of $1,000.  Tom was able to provide us with the parts for less cost than our repair guy’s (parts) estimate.  We then could use our IT guy to install the parts using Tom’s informative repair videos.  Further, Tom made himself available to us to assist with any repair-related questions that were not addressed in the videos.  We ordered the parts from Tom around 2 pm. West Coast time.  We had the parts in our hands before 10 am. on the next day.  The expedited shipping cost was embedded in the cost that Tom quoted:  no hidden fees.  The parts were new (not refurbished), genuine HP, and in HP factory-sealed cartons.  Tom promptly followed-up with tracking and other information and questions that we had.  And here is what further separates Tom from the field:  post-sale / post-repair Tom reached out to us to see how our repair went and how the plotter was performing.  Tom had already made the parts sale and there was no motivation for any further follow-up at this point, yet he did.  This is the very essence of superior service.

Tom was referred to me by a plotter repair guy in Alabama I've known for years and true to his word Tom was very helpful in assuring me that the problem I was having with a customers HP800 was indeed a formatter board. Tom shipped same day and customer is back up and running quicker than he would have been by some of the "big boy" repair guys here in Atlanta and at a cost for the board that encouraged the customer to give me a 50.00 tip (first one I've ever gotten.,....thanks Thomas

Needed a new DesignJet 510 Formatter Board for our office. Received the new board very quickly with a box to return the old one. Worked wonderfully for just about a year but unfortunately had a problem. I contacted Tom and received a quick response with clear instructions on how to exchange our part under the warranty. Received the new board within days and we are back up and running. Thank you to Tom and Designjetpartsfast.

My client has a DesignJet 510 that needs a new GL\2 card. The GL/2 card in it says (Processor Card) on the front, underneath where it says "GL\2 Accessory Card". The card number is CH336-80001 with no "A" at the end. Is this what is also referred to as a "Formatter Card/Board"?

Actually...I did have a great experience in performing some overdue maintenance work on my 2001 DJ 500-42.  I couldn't have survived it without the great information found here and around the net; OEM parts and well illustrated procedures.

This was a few years ago, but;
  • I snapped off the blue handle on the paper release.
  • the printer stopped in mid-line and upon inspection saw the end results of old age on a belt; literally shredded with bits and pieces all over the interior to be vacuumed out.
  • replaced the trailing cable
  • new print heads
  • just a few drops of preferred oil for the DJ
If there was any one issue...it was the trailing cable connector on the Electronics Module.  The drawing of that little procedure didn't accurately reflect the tight quarters that my size huge hands had to try to maneuver in re-installing the connector end.  As memory serves, it wound up as the Faber Fix....two pencils (faber #2) held together by rubber band to use the eraser ends to grasp the connector and lowering into position so my free hand could reach an index to the end and press it home.  Everything else was just follow the bouncing ball through each procedure.

I did recently detach the JD 610N and gave up on dealing with the workstation, 610N and Linksys repeater and placed the printer about 20 ft away from the USB block; using a 30ft Tripp-List USB 2.0 with an inline Active Repeater.  After plugging it all together and rebooting the printer...unlike other "comments" at the seller's site....I was good to go.  The sorta wireless method got too involved especially with my carrier swapping out the router a few times which was another trial and error with trying to get back in business.  Compounded that with the mysterious loss of the Drivers every so often when I needed to fire up and print out.  I went USB/Cable just to keep the 500 exercised and lower the amount of blood pressure medication.

17 years old and still doing what it does best.  I know a lot of virtual pencil pushers that no longer own a plotter or printer...they just take what they can see on the screen and go to a Repro shop.  Me....I started off by hand and am highly suspect of my not being able to see my pre-bulk prints in usual scale close up and personal to send it off for print as the Construction Document with my name on it.

Thanks for keeping the faith and website!!

It's been a long time since I had customer service like what I received from Tom. My HP T520 went down with the Blue Screen of Death so I called HP and was told it would be $1200 to fix it. Instead, I found Tom on YouTube and used the link to DesignJetPartsFast.com. I called Tom and he confirmed the bad news but made me believe it was something I could fix myself. I trusted him and made my order, (which he went out of his way to Two-Day ship). I received the part and was able to plug it in and put the machine back together in less than 45 minutes. Fired it up and it works like new again.

I can't thank Tom and DJPF enough for their service and easy to follow directions.

Thanks again! -Luke K.
