Hi Body media Users,

A person from our group posted that he burned a lot of calories while driving, I thought it was intersting to post this, so if there are other among you who have that too, might consider to read this in Body Media trouble shooting area!

My Armband is recording Steps and Activity while driving.

Some car journeys may show steps or increased calories that you wouldn't expect. Accelerating, braking and bumpy road conditions can cause the Armband to think you are performing activities that you are not doing. If you routinely experience high calorie burn during car rides (over 2 METS) we recommend removing the Armband while driving.

road rage in gentbrugge? leve de lieve belgen ;)

also, i've noticed that while riding my bicycle, it only records the hills i go up as vigorous activity (hill of over 10-15%grade), otherwise it reads moderate. is that because my arm is more or less fixed in one position with the handlebars?

another day, jurgen and i were walking. it said i did 18k steps & he did 15k. is that to assume he takes longer steps or do i just wave my arms like a madman more frequently?

anyone else noticed these discrepancies?

II noticed the same thing concerning cycling. It doens't register the real calorie burn (i hope ;) ). I guess it's better to leave the armband at home and then add "intensive cycling" afterwards as an "off body actvity".

There's something odd indeed with the calorie counting during cycling. Bodymedia counted 520 Kcal during my 1h20 bike ride, Polar heart monitor tells me I burned 785 Kcal during that same ride. Only got 3 minutes of vigorous activity according to the armband although I climbed multiple hills in San Francisco. Maybe it's a Bodymedia that wants you to work harder?
