Hey all, not sure how many interior design alumni we have on this list, but I was wondering if y'all had any favorite resources for interior design for apartments?

In particular, I'm interested in how to best bring life and energy into an apartment. Whenever I clean and tidy, I feel a lot better, but I think I could do more. I'm interested in the useful details - how to place furniture to give a sense of openness or cozyness, how to place items tastefully on a bookshelf, where to and not to use patterns, how to balance colors, what plants might survive inside in the winter, even more woo woo stuff like particular incense smells. Anything to give me some darn energy!

Thanks! Happy designing -

There is a great magazine called Dwell. You can find it in any Barns & Noble.

Thanks everyone for the interior design directions!
Not finding the exact information I'm looking for (mostly links to products to buy to improve your apartment), but definitely some good advice.
Maybe there's room for a better interior design for poor 20 somethings in apartments blog?
I'm considering just taking each wall as a graphic design project and applying those aesthetics. Might work.
Thanks again!
