A set of specified design principles can act as a framework by which
the entire organisation (at all levels) can be grounded, directing
vision and ensuring that you are heading in the right direction, not
deviating off on a whim.

I wonder to what extent these issues are the concern of the designer?
Where does the designer's role end and the marketing team's role
begin? Should designers themselves be considering innovation and
direction in terms of IP in the pre-design or conceptual stage? At
what level of the organisation should this be considered?
