The Product Manager on the NYC Digital Service is a member of a highly collaborative team, responsible for delivering easy-to-use, trustworthy and future forward experiences for New Yorkers. The Product Manager will work closely with cross functional teams, support product definition, write documentation and participate in all aspects of product development from discovery to launch. This is an opportunity to take existing product skills and enhance them in an environment where you will be improving the digital experience for New Yorkers. Reporting directly to the Director of Product, your responsibilities will include:
- Guide product's lifecycle from conception to launch acting as the intersection between business strategy, user experience, and technology to deliver high quality websites and software
- Define and align stakeholders around problem to solve based on research, analytics and evidence
- Translate and prioritize user needs into requirements, and leading development teams to launch features
- Define and monitor outcomes and KPIs
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria and system requirements working closing with engineering teams to define technical feasibility and architecture
- Analyze reported issues and prioritize into backlog items
- Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned
- Support communication and coordination between cross functional teams and agencies
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years proven experience in a technical product role supporting the launch of digital features and products that help end users using SDLC best practices
- 5+ years experience with content management systems like AEM or Drupal
- Fast learner with ability to manage multiple products from strategy to executional details
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architectural frameworks, and modern software best practices
- Hands-on experience with developing digital products through the product cycle from planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Experience in a federated environment managing core platform capabilities shared by all federated sites, including Content Management System (CMS) enhancements, a common component library, and underlying infrastructure.
- Experience using data to support the prioritization of requests, enhancements and new features
- Self-motivated and proactive, appreciates a work environment of collaboration and transparency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exemplifies diversity, equity and inclusion work in past projects.
- Prefer experience with design systems that are used by multiple online applications
- Prefer experience with Azure DevOps tools and GitHub
