We need a one of a kind design thinker โ someone who sits at the intersection of systems design, investigative research, and public impact. You ask PhD-level research questions and you know how to break them open. You don't just map complex systems. You make them impossible to ignore.
Platform Justice is a nonprofit at the intersection of design, data, and digital rights. We build tools that turn invisible platform harms into public accountability.
THE ROLE
Designing Research & Investigations
Volunteer Role ยท Remote ยท 10โ15 hrs/week
This is not a research execution role. It is an investigation design role.
This is a role where you will decide what matters, what we go after, and how we get there. You will create the architecture of how an investigation flows โ from a platform harm no one is measuring, through data collection, legal analysis, and testimony, to a tool the public can use and a policy argument that lands.
We have policy researchers. We have journalists. We have data engineers and designers. We need the person who guides them โ who sees the whole system and knows how to move through it.

THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
How do you make an algorithm visible? How do you turn a gig worker's testimony into collective evidence? How do you architect an investigation so that a lawyer, a data engineer, and a designer are all pulling in the same direction?
That's the problem. You're the person who solves it.
THIS IS A VOLUNTEER ROLE
We can't pay you yet. What we can offer is a meaningful title, real ownership, published work with your name on it, and the chance to build something that doesn't exist yet.
