Under the general supervision of the Section Chief of the Creative Strategy and Operations Section (CSO) in the Creative Solutions Division, CSF, this role assists with the project management, research, analysis and product development tasks essential to the IMF Creative Lab, a hub providing essential human-centered design solutions to translate complex economic projects and stories into accessible, utilitarian tools and creative solutions. 

Key requirements of the position, including competencies, as per the job description: 
  • Function as an integral part of the IMF Creative Lab, collaborating effectively with the key stakeholders; creative director, designers, IT leads, economists and product managers to ensure deep understanding of users, research/evidence-based design strategy is implemented from conceptualization to delivery.  
  • Design and implement user search strategy and method; plan and perform user (ethnographic) research such as interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiries, and usability testing. Translate information into clear and compelling insights. Synthesize and analyze collected data, and produce journey maps, personas, and reports with design recommendations. 
  • Wireframe solutions using interactive tools and adobe design platforms – and manage the iteration process through user testing and research in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Take ownership of the assigned projects, processes and deliverables. Manage project plans, schedule, costs and stakeholder communication. Set up design and test sessions, facilitate the conversation and drive projects. 
  • Promote design thinking methodology and co-lead Creative Lab educational and outreach initiatives that consists of Talks, Trends and Training. 
  • Act as a Creative Strategist and actively engage with client departments to help grow business. Build relationship with client contacts and contribute to planning and determining priorities and establish annual work plan for the Creative Lab along with Lab colleagues.  

Qualifications

 
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Social Science, Computer Science or related field; or a bachelor's degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional work experience, is required.

Skills and Experience
  • Background in academic research and knowledge of Economics is desirable. Relevant work experience obtained in user research field either in consulting, government, non-profit or private sector. 
  • Deep knowledge of human-centered design and/or design thinking mindset and techniques backed by practical experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and behavioral analysis particularly in product prototyping environment backed by deep understanding of UI design.
  • Knowledge of information architecture and content strategy. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and implementing projects and working on innovative initiatives is highly desirable. 
  • Strong presentation skills, excellent oral and written communications skills and client relationship management skill essential. 
  • A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation, creative thinking and new ideas.
  • Technical proficiency: InVision/Sketch/Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite, knowledge of coding is a plus.
