Hi everyone!!

I wanted to share that my team at the California Department of Technology is hiring a Service Designer, and I thought this community might know someone who would be a great fit.

This isn't just a traditional client-facing service design role. While you'll absolutely lead discovery and service design engagements with California state departments, you'll also help shape how our own team works, including designing new capabilities, operating models, and ways of delivering services across state government.

We're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited about applying service design at both the project and organizational level.

If that sounds like you (or someone you know):

If you're considering applying and have a few questions about the role, I'm also happy to chat. Just reply to this email and we'll see if we can find a few minutes to connect.

A couple of practical notes:

  • Candidates must live in California.
  • This position is based in Sacramento, with an expectation of working in the office four days a week.

Thanks so much for helping spread the word. I know this community is full of incredibly talented designers, and I'd love to find someone who's excited about helping improve how government works for the people it serves!!
