Hi members of the Design and Behaviour group,

For those of you (all?) that are interested in Persuasive Technology/
Design I want to tell you that I organize a conference focus on
persuasive design, called Design for Conversion in Amsterdam this
year. www.designforconversion.nl Early bird registration ends the 11th
of November, so hurry up if you want to go "El Cheapo" style.

The conference is a mashup of persuasive design, principles of
persuasion and evidence based marketing. Yes it is mainly aimed
towards businesses. Next to that the conference's core is
interactivity, you will become a member of a team working on a real
life case.

This 3rd Edition will be about mobile technology and we are proud that
we can use the Design with Intent cards/system developed by Dan
Lockton (maybe you have heard of him).

From the official press release (hope to see you there!):

PRESS RELEASE The first Mobile Edition of Design for Conversion !

Amsterdam, October 27th 2009 / Press release

www.designforconversion.nl

---- On December 11th Design for Conversion (DfC) will host its first
Mobile Edition ! This colourful event is organised by a group of
enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who themselves work in the
field of three intersecting disciplines: online marketing, user
experience design and analytics. Design for Conversion is unique in
that it offers a platform for bridging the gap between the three
attending disciplines that are crucial to successful conversion on the
web; online marketing, analytics and user experience design - also
referred to as “the conversion family”.

After two well received events the industry looks with anticipation to
the upcoming event Design for Conversion, The Mobile Edition.
Participants are drawn in by the “more walk, less talk” approach. With
just 150 participants Design for Conversion is an intimate event where
the power of participation lies within the quality of the people it
attracts.

Design for Conversion is not for the faint at heart as there is no
escaping the interactive nature of the format. You will have to be
willing to burn and learn. The interaction takes place in a special
exchange with the international key note speakers. Besides being
experts in their field, just as importantly, the speakers become
actively involved in the participants’ team challenges. This
expectation to get involved may not be for everybody, but one thing’s
for sure boring it is not!

Why the Mobile Edition
Addressing the need to drive conversion through portable devices is
unavoidable in this day and age. Consumers increasingly expect access
to quality services irrespective of where they happen to be. Not long
ago something always seemed to be missing from the business equation,
be it infrastructure, standards, devices, applications or business
models. That was then, this is now: companies who continue to ignore
the opportunities targeting consumer behaviour and driving conversion
through portable devices will be missing out big time!

Content
This year Design for Conversion still continues to build on the
ingredients that are at the heart of the previous quality experiences.
This includes industry leading Key Note Speakers, Thought Provoking
cases, Interactive Participation and last but not least a good dose of
fun and competitive spirit, in other words the Design for Conversion
Team Challenge. Participants will be assigned to multidisciplinary
teams and are coached by expert leaders of the industry.

After all this hard work, the conference will end with well deserved
drinks and an excellent dinner.

For this special Mobile Edition, the Design for Conversion team has
yet again managed to interest a star cast of speakers. With pride they
present:

• Priya Prakash – Creative Director for Consumer Experience, Nokia
• Eric Siegel – President, Prediction Impact Inc.
• Scott Weiss – Symbian Foundation, Chair of UI Council
• Jerome Nadel - Senior Vice President of User Experience at Sagem
Wireless

Next to keynote speakers, there are team captains. These so called
team captains are senior professionals, either in the field of UX,
analytics or both. Every team captain has his/her own qualities, with
Stefan it is obvious what his biggest asset is.
