why housing and why now?
Housing responds to fundamental human needs. However, the past growth in the building and real estate sectors in some European and non-European countries did not bring us to sustainability considering the social, ecological and economic problems it created. Housing has been regarded a key sector for economic growth. But what are the consequences for this sector when growth is more and more questioned: in post-growth Europe? Housing policies contain complex interrelations between economic, environmental, and social systems; housing is a key area where the urgent changes are needed.
