Anaccurate and up-to-date email address, and/or phone number ensure you never lose access to your X account. There are a few ways to change your password, and keeping this information up to date simplifies resetting your account or password.

Note: Resetting your password will log you out of all your active X sessions. Additionally, password reset via text message isn't available to accounts that are enrolled in login verification. You can only reset your password through email.

If you frequently receive password reset messages that you did not request, it may be a good idea to turn on the Password reset protection in your account settings and set up two-factor authentication.

The password reset system will only work if you have previously added a cell phone number, email address, or both into the MyPortal Communication Preferences (If you are not logged in you will be required to do so before accessing the Communication Preferences form). After updating your contact information in Communication Preferences, you will need to wait 30 minutes before trying to reset your password.

Select the first option if you forgot your password, and you will be provided options to reset your password by using information (email or phone number) you provided in MyPortal. If you have not provided additional contact information, then you will need to contact the Help Desk between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Select the second option if you know your password, but you tried incorrect options too many times. Your account is now locked and you need to unlock it. The steps to unlock your account are nearly the same as to reset your password.

The email or phone number used to send the verification code is determined by the information you provided in MyPortal in the Communication Settings. If using the text or call option, you will need to enter the phone number you supplied in the Communication Settings. See hint to know which number.

Thank you for reaching out. Have you tried clearing the cache on your browser or use a different web browser or device instead? What is the model of your router? Please do a full minute reset by holding the reset button while it's powered on then after a minute, release the reset then unplug the power cord of the router. Wait for 10 seconds then power it back on then try to set it up again.

If password recovery is enabled, but you have not set the answers to the questions, it keeps sending you back to the beginning of the process. If you haven't already given the thing your personal answers, they are not in its memory and it has no way of knowing if they are correct.

If the standard factory password (password) does not work, then you will have to factory reset the thing to get back to that. Then either disable password recovery (check the manual for your device) or provide some answers to those questions.

What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

When signing into ILogin, expand the "Need Help?" click on the "Forgot your password?" link to initiate the password reset. It will then prompt you for your new password. Once it has accepted your new password it will require your multi-factor authentication method of choice and then will allow you to login.

I made the mistake of changing a phone number on our family plan before I removed the passcode from the phone. When I acted like I wanted to remove the passcode, it is forcing me to put in the icloud password from the account the phone is attached to. I cannot remember the password and it won't let me change it unless I have access to the (previous) phone number or the icloud email itself!! It's a vicious cycle!!

I appreciate the help but I already did that (what is mentioned in the gif). It all comes back to needing the password for the icloud email address that I don't even remember setting up. Or having access to a phone number that is no longer in service:

If you use security questions with your Apple ID, or if you don't have access to a trusted device or phone number, go to iforgot.apple.com. Then you can unlock your account with your existing password or reset your password.

No. With two-factor authentication, you don't need to remember any security questions. We verify your identity exclusively using your password and verification codes sent to your trusted devices and phone numbers. When you enroll in two-factor authentication, we keep your old security questions on file for two weeks in case you need to return your account to its previous security settings. After that, they're deleted.

If you are unable to log in to your library account using the last 4 digits of your phone number, you can reset your PIN/Password via email. Please note: you must have a current email address saved in your library account to use this feature.

If you do not have a current email address or phone number saved to your library account, please visit your local branch to reset your PIN/Password. You may be asked to provide information confirming your identity. We recommend calling ahead to confirm acceptable forms of identification.

If you previously set an alternate email address or provided a mobile phone number, and you have set your security question and answer in the password reset options section of your eProfile, you can reset your eID password via your alternate email or text message:

You can use your mobile or desktop device to reset your NCID password or unlock your NCID account at any time. Please note, however, that all NCID accounts that are locked automatically unlock after 30 minutes.
