NOTEThis is GameBoy2936's page. Please do not edit without my permission. However, I am looking for someone to make a good box art for this game, because I am struggling to do things such as finding good backgrounds (and adding certain filters to fit the styling of the Chocolatier games), and fitting in the logo. If you have made a Nintendo Switch or PC boxart, please head down to the comments and paste your boxart there is a new comment.
Chocolatier 4: Modern Confectionery is a business management and simulation game based on the Chocolatier series developed by Big Splash Games and PlayFirst, for PC, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. Akin to the game's predecessors, Chocolatier 4 is where the player can build up his/her own chocolate business, rising up from the levels of Novice to Master Chocolatier, as well as holding different business titles within Baumeister Confections. With more recipes, online multiplayer action, dynamic new ports, and more, the player assumes the role of a young chocolatier in the early 1970s, and they complete quests on behalf of Baumeister Confections, travel the world, and collect recipes to expand their chocolate empire.
Ports serve as the primary locations for your chocolate business in Chocolatier 4: Modern Confectionery. Each port presents unique markets, shops, characters, and environments. They also provide a reflection of the real-world local time and weather patterns based on geographical locations, adding a layer of immersion.
The player's access to ports is determined by various factors such as progression in quests, improved relationships with key characters, or achieving higher business ranks. At times, access to ports or their buildings may temporarily be restricted due to ongoing real-world or random in-game events.
The map provides players with an overview of their current location, visited destinations, and where they are yet to explore. The map displays real-time weather effects and the day-night cycle, adding another layer of immersion and realism to the gameplay.
Key indicators on the map guide the player's actions and decisions. For instance, factory operations are indicated through smoke animations or a red flashing mark, signifying ongoing production or a production halt, respectively. Shops owned by the player are highlighted on the map, making it easier for players to manage and monitor their sales locations.
He is described as rising at 4am, to begin his day, seated in front of a low table, on a tatami floor, cutting his chocolate by hand, into the small squares which are artistically boxed, and sold in his shop.
He makes three flavours: sweet (milk chocolate with Austrian herb liqueur), bitter (organic dark chocolate with sake from Okinawa) and matcha (with green tea). I am intrigued. He describes how eating chocolate at Kyoto Nama Chocolate is a full sensory, sometimes a full-day experience, savouring flavours, colours and textures, and taking in the beautiful gardens surrounding his tearoom.
Unfortunately, I cannot afford a trip to Japan, at the moment, although this is another reason to want to visit that lovely country. So I sigh, and sip a cup of green tea instead, leafing through the pages and salivating.
La Chocolaterie opened its doors in December 2010, which may explain why I had not heard of them. It is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Takanori Chiwata and Kayoko Hamamoto, who worked for ten years, for Meiji Chocolate, in Japan, where they researched cocoa bean cultivation and developed new products, before coming to Canada in September of last year. I feel lucky they did.
Cases of wonderfully coloured nama choco are displayed, and Taka is behind the counter. Friendly and eager to offer a sample of any of the chocolate, I try the bright yellow mango. Delicious, not too sweet. Creamy and silky, quite delicate and soft.
It explodes in a swirl of tart mango puree shattering the astringency of the outer coating of green tea, and finished by the sweetness of white chocolate. It is gone far too quickly, tasting as much like a fresh dessert as a bon bon. Tart and luxurious.
This little shop is set in a market, rather than a serene old tea house, and while I am sure no-one would ever feel like laying their weary head down for a nap, we have had a nice visit with a very friendly chocolatier .
