Educating to deal with complex issues that threaten sustainability of
the earth is the challenge of ESD. In order to do this, it is
essential to understand locally relevant and culturally appropriate
sustainability values which would change the way a country approaches
sustainable development. Governments would then be able to provide a
leadership at the national level for the Decade and address nationally
relevant SD issues. Thus governments have to be informed and educated
in order to integrate ESD in policy. What could be the strategies for
educating policy makers?
