The India vs Pakistan match in Asian Games 2023 kabaddi will be the seventh time the two traditional powerhouses of kabaddi face off at the continental showpiece. India have won all the previous six kabaddi contests against Pakistan. The two teams did not cross paths at Jakarta 2018.
The Indian team topped Group A with convincing wins over Thailand, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei and Japan. Indian kabaddi team captain Pawan Sehrawat and star raiders Naveen Kumar and Arjun Deshwal have looked the most impressive but India also hold a trump card in Aslam Inamdar.
The second semi-final will see Iran take on Chinese Taipei at the same venue later on Friday. While the losing semi-finalists settle for bronze, the winners will progress to the Asian Games 2023 kabaddi final on Saturday.
Live streaming of the India vs Pakistan kabaddi semi-final at the Asian Games 2023 will be available on Sony Liv. The kabaddi semi-final will be telecast live on the Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 2, Sony Sports Ten 3, Sony Sports Ten 4 or Sony Sports Ten 5 TV channels in India.
The four-day event marks the return of the continental championship after a gap of six years. The previous edition was held in Gorgan, Iran, in 2017. All matches of the kabaddi tournament will be live streamed in India.
Since the inception of the tournament in 1980, India have been the most successful men's team in the Asian Kabaddi Championship, winning seven titles in the last eight editions. Iran won in the 2003 edition held in Kangar, Malaysia.
Arjun Deshwal, the leading raider from the last season in PKL, will spearhead the Indian attack alongside seasoned raiders like Naveen Kumar and Pawan Sehrawat. The Indian defence will be bolstered by the presence of Sunil Kumar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Surjeet Singh and Nitesh Kumar.
