Ron matches a Benjamin Lewis b. 1791 m. Louvina Slate. He lived next door to John W. Lewis b. 1810.  Diane's line. She could never make be connection. Ron has a DNA match to Benjamin Lewis m. Louvina Slate.

Benjamin Lewis Father was Nathan Lewis  m. Electa ? Lewis. Nathan Lewis was from Preston, New York. On Benjamin Lewis headstone it states he is the son of Nathan Lewis.

So was Benjamin Lewis and my Asa Lewis brothers or cousins. Ron also matches John W. Lewis (Diane's line) all Autosomal DNA. So close her so far.

Does anyone know how Nathan Lewis  or his son Benjamin Lewis connect to our Lewis.

Ron matches them all.

On 8 Nov 1837 in Henry Co, John Webb was appointed as guardian of the "orphans of Asa Lewis" and seven children were listed, including "Edwin S. Lewis".  This obviously should be "Eldred S. Lewis", though the clerk appears to write "Edwin".  As each of the children of Asa turned age 21, John Webb paid their share of the estate in full.  In Feb 1848, John Webb was recorded as paying Eldred Lewis his share of $234.  This time the record does show "Eldred".  I can supply copies of all the estate records.

This would have been a lot easier if people weren’t following John Lewis from Westerly Rhode Island.

Edmund Lewis’s book really helped. Ron matches Sally Lewis m. Joshua Ellis father Amos Lewis. He matches all the other surnames back to Edmund Lewis. So for now this is how I believe it goes.
Amos Lewis’s will only gives the names of his children. No dates of birth. So for now I am following the DNA. I will now be looking for documents to support this.

Ron’s  (Autosomal DNA) matches every surname here.

John m Hanna Marshall
John m. Elizabeth Brewer
Thomas m. Elizabeth Carder
Amos m. Lydia Newhall (variant Newell)
Asa Lewis m. Susan Standish
Charles King Lewis m. Emily White
Charles Victor Lewis m. Emma Ada Weatherman
Ron’s birth father Charles Allen Lewis

Diane’s comes off of one of Thomas’s sons still working on it. When I figure it out I will let you all know.
