Hi Everyone
Ron’s Aunt Pauline Lewis Stevens Featherton put a book together on the Lewis Family composed by Pauline A Featherton dated July 1975.
In the Lewis Family on page 9 Aunt Pauline met with the granddaughter of Asa Lewis. She stated that Asa Lewis’s siblings were.
John Lewis
Samuel Lewis died in Oswego County, New York
William Lewis died in Genesee county New York
Nathan Lewis lived Indiana
Benjamin Lewis
Polly Lewis m. Bradford Williams.
Asa Lewis (my line)
Also Autosomal DNA shows that Diane Lewis ancestor John W. Lewis b. 1810 and my ancestor Asa Lewis b. 1783 are half siblings.
On page 9. it states the father of Asa Louis was the soldier under George Washington. Does anyone know of a Lewis who served under George Washington
If anyone knows of a soldier that served under George Washington, please let me know. Thank you.
In her papers Betty Carpenter Lewis states that Asa and his family came from New York to Michigan in the fall of 1835. From Buffalo to Detroit, the journey was made by boat. With an ox team they traveled from Detroit to Jackson Michigan.
If anyone knows anything, please let me know.
Joy
