Greetings Orchard Friends!
Great News! We will be planting/seeding the NEW, ALL NATIVE PRAIRIE AREA at the orchard in November. People for Pollinators is a group with the Neil Smith Wildlife Refuge. They will be providing the seed this fall to plant the prairie area! If you or any of your youth would like to help participate in the planting/seeding of the prairie area, you are welcome to join us for this event. This area of the orchard will serve to educate the community on the necessity of pollinators, plants that attract them, and how the urban population can help in real and practical ways!
We will be sowing the seed at 10am on Saturday 11/14 at the Forest Ave Community Orchard (334 Forest Ave, DSM, 50314). Refreshments and light snacks will be provided for all. I will be sending more specific information as we get closer to the date. Feel free to contact me with any questions. My information is below in the signature line.
