Hello Des Moines!

I wanted to forward along this message regarding ordering flats of flowers for the spring. It seems early, but these orders are due on September 18th. If your school or non-profit would like to order flowers from Des Moines Parks and Rec, please read on! This is a great program that many have participated in in the past.

Reminder that orders are due 9/18.  If you have already submitted an order, you should have received an email confirmation with your order.  Please check your order to make sure that it is correct.  If it is not, resubmit your order and email me to let me know what has happened.

Thanks!

It’s time to order annual flowers to beautify the neighborhood right-of-way, school or non-profit organizations. To clarify these flowers are NOT to be planted on a private homeowners’ yard, a for-profit business or an organized religious group.

This year all groups will have to indicate at least 1 valid address where flowers are planted, (please add all planting locations, if more than one, to the form).  This ensures an honest program, and no questionable orders.  Thank you

The online order procedure will be the same as last year.  Below are the directions to fill out the flower order;

  1. One person from the group is designated to input information for flowers, locations of flower beds, pick up date and the volunteers to be caring for the flowers.
  2. Submit order at this link;  https://flowers.dmgov.org/
  3. Once the order is submitted, an email will be sent to confirm that the order was received.  Please keep a copy of your order for distribution day.  If you do not receive and email confirmation please try submittal again or contact Julie.
  4. The contact information should be the phone number of person that can be reached on the day of flower pickup.

New this year flowers that attract butterflies will be indicated by a butterfly in the top right corner of flower picture.

 Cosmos Sonata Pink Blush

We have added an annual Asclepias, or Butterfly weed, to the order form.  This planted is a host for monarch caterpillars.  The plants will be larger in size and in flats of 24 and a maximum order of 5 flats per group.

If there is more than one association/group with the same name I will follow up to avoid confusion at pickup.

If the group does not have access to the internet, a computer is available at Parks and Recreation office at 1551 E MLK Parkway, 50317.

The flower orders are due SEPTEMBER 18, 2015 https://flowers.dmgov.org/

Thank you for beautifying the city of Des Moines.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
