Just a quick email to make sure that we are going still be doing the
next meeting at IADNUG the first week of March. According to
http://groups.google.com/group/des-moines-meta-user-group/web/meeting-schedule
this is what's next. However, we slipped on the last meeting, which
was supposed to be at AgileIowa.

Thoughts?

Yes, were are still on.  Do we have a list of topics people are interested in discussing as it pertains to .NET?

As a programmer, I'd like to see places where I might be able to apply .NET technologies or ideas. So kinda a basic overview.

Things like:

Core Technologies of .NET
Tools used
Where does .NET work best?
Where doesn't it work?

Just to start. Ideas?

I'd like to see "Where does .NET work best" focus on solving business
problems and "Where doesn't it work" look at security and scalability
concerns.

I'd recommend leading with the real-life usage cases and leave off the
tech tool talk until the end.

I like the topics suggested so far. I'm having trouble deciding on a format for this meeting though. Do you think it would work best to have an open discussion? Or should this presented as normal meeting w/PowerPoints and code?

I think an open discussion would be good, however, then tend to attract a smaller number of people. Maybe a hybrid of the two options? Get a couple of us to each take a subset of the topics and spend 15-20 min talking, then switch off to another presenter.

To add to the topic list, it would be cool to hear from people who have implemented .Net in a non-.Net shop and the problems and successes they had with doing so.
