Icreated a web app with a Smart Editor widget. I have two text fields that are not showing up in the smart editor, even though they're selected to be editable (Report Editor and Report Edit Details in the image below).
The app (and smart editor widget) were created prior to the new fields being added to the feature. I've since tried deleting the smart editor, saving the edits to the webapp, refreshing the webapp - adding a new smart editor widget, ensuring the two fields are selected as viewable & editable, but they still do not display in the smart editor.
FYI I know you already figured this out by recreating it but I was having the exact same problem and finally figured out how to fix it. Thought I might add it here in case anyone else had the same problem.
If you go to the map tab and click the drop down for Choose Web Map then choose Edit This Map it will open up map viewer of the map. You then need to choose the layer and configure the pop up. Choose configure Attributes and a table will come up with all the fields including those that were added after the WebApp was created, those ones have the display unchecked. Check all the ones you want displayed, save it and close it. They will now show up in the attribute widget.
Hi Andy, I don't know how you would do this with the Smart Editor, but it it possible with the standard editor widget. First ensure this behaviour is enabled in the Editor widget settings, then you should see the Cut (scissors) icon at the bottom of the Editor window (see screen shots). To use, select a polygon (can use the 'New selection' black arrowhead for this), click the Cut button, then either draw a line that passes right the way through your polygon to cut it, or, to make a donut hole, draw an internal line where the start and end of the line cross over. Hope that helps.
Sorry, I'm not answering the question but folowing as I have the same question. I want to leverage the functionality of the Smart Editor widget but I also want to cut a line using the 'scissors' part of the standard widget. I would like to avoid having two editor widgets in the app as this makes it confusing for the end user. Hoping someone has a solution or idea on if this will be possible in future releases.
I've configured a web app in ArcGIS Online and I'm unable to get the editor and smart editor widgets working. Both widgets state the web map has no editable layers. I've enabled editing for the layer I'm working with and I've confirmed I'm working with the correct web map. I think the issue may be a bug in the software because I'm able to edit the layer in map viewer and I can edit the layer using the predefined edit template. Could the issue be sharing? I'm currently only sharing with my organization. I guess it would help if somebody could confirm if the steps below are missing anything. Again, it's odd because the web map does have editable layers.
I think ArcGIS Online takes a while to update. I updated the layer to allow editing and it worked after about a half hour. I've also noticed a delay when adding fields. I'll add a field and open up a web map with that layer and it takes about 10-15 minutes before I see the field in the layer.
When you hoover over the page, the editor shows a green border around the elements you can select for editing. If you click on an editable element, a menu with editing options will appear on the right side.
When you click Edit, you are giving the option to edit the element you selected. The Smart Editor recognises the type of element selected, for example a text element or an image, and gives the relevant editing options. In the case of an image, you can replace it. In the case of a text element, you can change the text and edit the style.

I think there is a difference between the CMS collection "data" and the "content" that can be created in a Rich Text Block. Ideally, anything could be put into a Rich Text Block. Maybe it then becomes a Rich Content Block.
The goal for a new editor could be to create a sort of Medium-style writing experience where the content block being written for could insert any type of content you've already defined. In this style of writing, you could do things similarly to how Medium works.. Update text (h1, h2, h3, bold, underline, etc.) and add images, videos, but also add in components from Webflow that you've already created.
Wouldn't it be ideal to just type the content and components based on labels that each component is given (h1, h2, h3, bold, underline) and images, videos, or symbols? That way we don't need to place the content in the same order for all of the CMS items.
This would allow for unique CMS item order, where you are putting in content to one of these blocks and it gets designed based on the UI components that you have already created in your Webflow site's style guide.
For example, if I'm using a Rich Content Block.. I might reference the "title" of my post using "@title" where I can actually get a "dynamic field insertion" into my Rich Content Block. This would allow me to easily update the "title" attribute at any time and my Rich Content Block would also update every instance of that reference.
This could be tremendously scalable if you are referencing a global attribute many other blog posts. You could simply select that attribute by using the @ symbol. It would then allow you to look up content anywhere across your CMS. In that item or globally through a simple search. It then binds the reference after you select it.
The current marketcap price for Webflow is $4B and these idiots can't allow us to paste markup text from ChatGTP to Rich Text. What a bunch of clowns. Anyone reading this not on Weblflow, go somewhere else. These guys are all lazy and don't care about us. It's been four years.
Still facing this. Love webflow but if the rich text editor is broken, and I can't copy paste things, then how is any work going to ever get done? Pasting as plain text removes all styling (duh), making the process of adding a simple blog really cumbersome.
Would you believe the issue where you paste something into a Rich text field and spaces are randomly removed between words STILL hasn't been addressed? The workaround is to paste as plain text and then format, seriously hampering the actual functionality of a Rich text field.
Just moved across from WordPress to Webflow. Whilst this has been good for the static pages on our site I have to say I was shocked at how bad the CMS capabilities are in Webflow. As in there's pretty much nothing you can do other than basic text. I'm not looking for advanced features just the ability to format the text in different ways.
Highly agree. It would be AMAZING to create templated blocks of content in a webflow styleguide that content editors could then choose to add in and order it as they please. If not that, I would just like the option for one of the CMS fields to be "image OR video".
