Ive always loved the ease of use of having a video/picture file i wish to stream using the my local network using the play content feature instead of mirroring screen. The quality is often better and I can utilise the smart TV or console remote for playback.

I'm having the problem now that when i'm trying to stream to my TV it's no longer giving the option to "play content" only mirror screen, which is reallllly annoying. I've had this issue before that managed to fix itself somehow, but since my phone updated on monday the option is gone, and despite my best efforts i can't seem to find the option again.

see photo...it use to show up there. but now even though the TV's on and visible on the network it doesn't find it. when I go to mirror screen option on the LG TV it doesn't show up there either, but will when I go to play a video and select the smart view, but still only getting the option to mirror screen.

I don't use this function often. I'm experiencing the same as you. I used to be able to stream to Samsung and non Samsung TVs. Smart View app which is no longer supported may allow streaming to your Samsung TV. You can download it from apkmirror which is a safe site to use.

I have purchased this phone this week and I cannot see smart view nowhere. Some other people had the same issue as I have seen on internet. I also heard that the previous A series had smart view but why not on this device? I am going to refund it back to the store if there is no smart view because I use it a lot in my daily life.

I have this problem too. It's completely ridiculous that I have a Samsung Smart TV and phone and that they won't do basic screen mirroring. I don't give a cr-p about the ability to share apps on the TV or control the volume, I just want to be able to see my phone screen on the TV.

It worked flawlessly on my J7, and honestly the ONLY reason I didn't get an iPhone when I upgraded was so that I could keep this feature.

I have a S10 5G that won't mirror with my TCL 5 Series. I've tried resetting the tv, turning my phone's WiFi off/on. Nothing seems to work, all my smart view says when I try to connect after a minute is to power off the device (TV) which I've done and still no luck. I can mirror my YouTube app within YouTube tho, can someone help? What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your response, this is a TCL Series 5 with the latest 10 OS. I tried all of your suggestions, except rebooting my modem. I can see the device in my smart view app, but when I try to connect I don't get anything to pop up on the TV so I can allow the connection. Both devices are on the same network, I've used the mirror function with an LG and had no issues. I appreciate any help

TCL model 55S531, software version 10.0.0 build 42098-88. I attempted both WiFi frequencies with no luck, I connected my Samsung Galaxy S10 5G to a LG smart tv via smart view with no issues. Screen mirroring devices show as none for both allowed and blocked. All other settings are how you advised. I haven't reset my modem though, if all else fails I'll try that next

You need to narrow the scope for your Roku's screen mirroring issue - you need to try to Miracast-mirror to it from another device (another Android device, Windows 8.1/10, etc - something with Miracast capabilities).

Roku also has had issues in the recent past - Miracast connections from Android 10/OneUI 2.x devices failed connection when the Roku was connected to a 2.4Ghz SSID (this appeared with Android 10/OneUI 2.x upgrades winter/spring 2020 with OS 9.2/9.3, and was fixed in OS9.4 last fall).

Samsung Electronics launched its new Samsung Smart View app, currently available on select Samsung Smart TV models in beta format. The full version is scheduled to be released in early 2016. The new software, which allows users to conveniently share personal content with Samsung Smart TVs, integrates versions 1.0 and 2.0 and improves connection reliability, as well as expanding device compatibility.

Once a device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as a Smart TV, consumers can immediately use the Smart View service simply by choosing which TV set to connect with. At the push of a button, this intuitive, newly designed app can instantly transfer content stored on mobile devices and PCs to TVs. Consumers can also use multiple functions simultaneously, and access other apps on their mobile devices without affecting the sharing function. For example, consumers can browse the internet on their smartphone, while watching a movie via Smart View on their Samsung Smart TV.

Consumers can install the updated Samsung Smart View app on their mobile device from the Google Play, App Store and also onto their Windows PC** by visiting www.samsung.com/smartview. Once installed, users can enjoy a range of Smart View features, including the ability to create playlists for music, video and photos, easily switch between these content types and instantly share content with any Samsung Smart TV on the same Wi-Fi network.

Seems smart view does something that overides everything fir power saving. Even activating always on in developer options doesnt do the trick.

Several of the stock alway on apps out there have no effect either.

Sometimes you have to make sure your normal screen settings are restored aftrr you turn the app off, but thats probably something i have not done correctly in the config.

Overall a decent workaround

I currently need to develop a smartview Android app. I hope to cast audio and video to a Samsung TV and launch our TV application. I would like to know which model of Samsung TV I need to buy to support smartview?

Just to clarify if you want to cast your audio/visual to Samsung TV then I believe that you can use the Smart View SDK for that. If your app is hosted on the mobile device and you just want to cast it then you are probably OK .
