I recently discovered something intriguing about Spotify's playlists that are customized to our preferences, aside from the popular "Made For You" and "Picked For You" options. One such discovery is the playlist "my life is a movie." To my surprise, when comparing songs with my friends, we noticed that our playlists differ, showcasing unique tracks. This sparked my curiosity: How can I find more playlists like these?
Two other playlists that I suspect are also personalized are "songs to scream in the car" and "internet rewind." These playlists have a distinct vibe that aligns with my musical taste.
Now, I'm eager to explore additional playlists in this genre. Have any of you come across similar hidden playlists on Spotify? If so, please share the names of these playlists or any tips on how to discover more personalized playlists beyond the obvious recommendations.

Discovering user playlists is also harder. The user experience on Spotify more easily shows you the number of songs and followers to a playlist. (Follower count really helps determine the qualify of a list.)

For some time now, the predominant experience of music discovery has differed from the old days of digging through blogs (or actual brick-and-mortar record stores), but there is still something undeniably magical about falling in love with a new artist on a playlist. And if you find one artist you like, there will likely be several more on the same playlist. The discoveries come in batches, not unlike how a helpful record store clerk or trusted blogger might have made carefully considered suggestions pre-streaming boom.

Listening through this collection of 808s-centered compositions makes clear just how influential the revered drum machine has been across all genres of music, from Phil Collins gems to Nine Inch Nails opuses of abrasion and everything in between.

Every week, Complex updates our Best New Music playlist with the latest highlights from the world of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. The playlist accompanies our weekly Best New Music column, which provides deeper insight behind each of the songs. To stay in the loop on all the new releases each week, follow the playlist on Spotify here!

If you're looking for a constantly-updated playlist that focuses on music discovery from all genres, the staff at Pigeons & Planes have you covered. Pigeons & Planes Weekly is the only place you'll find Billie Eilish next to Kodak Black next to international newcomers like Busu. Each week, you'll encounter a fresh mix of the newest sounds from familiar faces paired with addictive songs from exciting new artists you've never heard of.

"Lofi study beats" playlists aren't limited to YouTube. If you're looking for relaxing hip-hop-infused instrumentals to put on in the background while you study or decompress, the Spotify-curated Lush Lofi playlist promises to provide "the chillest instrumental lofi beats, certified lush." These songs are as tranquil as the koi pond photo that graces the cover.

As the title says, and for the Desktop client (though I don't think this was ever possible on other platforms anyway). I know we used to be able to reorder playlists on our profiles by dragging them in the left sidebar, but that doesn't work after the redesign. Playlists in any menu don't move when they're dragged, even with the compact layout. Is there another way to do this? Can't seem to find any articles or the like about it.

Edit 3: [[SOLUTION]] Oh my god, I found it. It's still a thing. You have to expand the Library tab on the side, select Playlists, click the sorting dropdown (likely says Recents), and then Custom Order. Then you can drag playlists like you used to be able to.

I have some Python code that is meant to return the user's playlists. However, it only returns some of my playlists. The documentation says it should return all playlists in my library (all the ones I've created and the ones I've liked). Also, when I use the 'try it' feature on Spotify's website, it works perfectly fine. I've made sure I have the right scopes, the user ID is correct and even made sure my playlists are public (not that it should matter). Here is my code calling the function:

Whether you need to focus, get pumped up, or wind down, the right playlist at the right time has the ability to transform your day from dull to dope. In addition, quality songs also have the power to reduce stress, help you connect with the moment, and give you all the feels.

Whether this whole saga has suddenly made Apple Music more appealing or you were intent on ditching Spotify anyway, making the switcheroo while keeping all your carefully curated playlists is extremely easy.

To switch your playlists back from Apple Music to Spotify, simply follow the above steps with the music streaming services swapped around to get the desired results. It's just as fast and just as simple in reverse.

Combing through streaming services to find new tracks and forming perfectly curated playlists of your favourites is all well and good, but what about something to them on. It's an essential part of the equation. WIRED has tested a wide range of Bluetooth speakers.

There's FreeYourMusic, a popular choice that can be used across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux. It has a more modern design than SongShift and Soundiiz, as well as a particular focus on the management and promotion of your public playlists across multiple services. But some features are only available via the premium paywall, such as Smart-Links for sharing your playlists across different services, Auto-Sync for keeping your playlists up-to-date by refreshing every 15 minutes, and dedicated support.

Spotify algorithmic playlists can reach a highly targeted audience of listeners who are almost certain to love your music. This can result in a surprisingly large number of streams, particularly for talented artists in less popular genres. Spotify users who listen to playlists like Discover Weekly and Release Radar also tend to be much more engaged, actively searching for music they love. These listeners, while fewer in number, are much more likely to turn into loyal fans.

Consumer Reports tried three of these tools: Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic, and SongShift. (SongShift works only on iPhones.) All three let you transfer a few playlists with a limited number of songs free of charge, but you have to pay to move more playlists or bring along your liked songs and albums.

Playlists from streaming services can be easily converted via online utilities such as Tune My Music (which I use to convert from Spotify to Tidal). Once the playlist is converted, it can be accessed in Tidal (for example) directly from the hardware.

This is a satirical project and does not use real artificial intelligence, but a faux pretentious music-loving AI. The code creates a custom blend of jokes from our database paired with the insights found in the artist, album, genre, and track data from your Spotify or Apple Music.

This project does not save any Spotify or Apple Music data. When you log-in with Spotify or Apple account, it creates a special, one-time code to read your top songs and tracks, as well as recent playlists. That access goes away until you come back.

Spotify offers digital copyright restricted recorded audio content, including more than 100 million songs and five million podcasts, from record labels and media companies.[8] As a freemium service, basic features are free with advertisements and limited control, while additional features, such as offline listening and commercial-free listening, are offered via paid subscriptions. Users can search for music based on artist, album, or genre, and can create, edit, and share playlists.

As of December 2023, Spotify was the 47th most-visited website in the world with 24.78% of its traffic coming from the United States followed by Brazil with 6.51% according to data provided by Semrush.[12][13]

Spotify was founded in 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden,[16] by Daniel Ek, former CTO of Stardoll, and Martin Lorentzon, co-founder of Tradedoubler.[17][18] According to Ek, the company's title was initially misheard from a name shouted by Lorentzon. Later they conceived a portmanteau of "spot" and "identify".[19]

In April 2016, Ek and Lorentzon wrote an open letter to Swedish politicians, demanding action in three areas that they claimed hindered the company's ability to recruit top talent as Spotify grows, including access to flexible housing, better education in the programming and development fields, and stock options. Ek and Lorentzon wrote that to continue competing in a global economy, politicians needed to respond with new policies, or else thousands of Spotify jobs would be moved from Sweden to the United States.[23]

The Financial Times reported in March 2017 that, as part of its efforts to renegotiate new licensing deals with music labels, Spotify and major record labels had agreed that Spotify would restrict some newly released albums to its Premium tier, with Spotify receiving a reduction in royalty fees to do so. Select albums would be available only on the Premium tier for a period of time, before general release. The deal "may be months away from being finalized, but Spotify is said to have cleared this particular clause with major record labels".[49][50][51] New reports in April confirmed that Spotify and Universal Music Group had reached an agreement to allow artists part of Universal to limit their new album releases to the Premium service tier for a maximum of two weeks. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek commented that "We know that not every album by every artist should be released the same way, and we've worked hard with UMG to develop a new, flexible release policy. Starting today, Universal artists can choose to release new albums on premium only for two weeks, offering subscribers an earlier chance to explore the complete creative work, while the singles are available across Spotify for all our listeners to enjoy".[52][53][54] It was announced later in April that this type of agreement would be extended to indie artists signed to the Merlin Network agency.[55][56]
