You can use XYZ color spaces but before you do you should know about all the strings attached. Brushes will behave differently, colors mix different, blending modes will work different or not at all, and your screen is perhaps unable to show all the colors of the color space.
And all of this can be useless in the end because for sharing your images (like uploading them to the web) you have to convert them to srgb anyway to prevent the colors to look like garbage in other applications.
If you want to use this color space in krita, if you are not a professional programmer, you may need a lot of time to study and modify the code to achieve the desired effect. I have made some modifications to facilitate my work before, one of which is color separation. I now use it to summarize and analyze the color composition of images, which can indeed achieve the effects in videos:

I went to take a look and found that lab is indeed d50 in krita. The reason why I gave the above suggestion is because there are already some filters in krita that use lab color space. If you need to get similar effects quickly, using lab may be the best choice. Oklab has not yet been implemented in krita, and it may take some time. The biggest difference I know between oklab and lab is that in the blue part, the lab tends to lean towards purple.
I have added some oklab code to krita, but since I am not a professional programmer, I have also broken some of the original functions. I am also looking forward to official personnel joining the oklab color space so that we can get better color pickers, color blends, or more.
So, Krita does not support OkLab no, the main reason OkLab is so popular nowadays is that it shows up in CSS-Color-4. I wanted to implement CSS-Color-4 loading/saving (LCMS also has OKLab thing nowadays so a color selector might be possible), but then I ended up working on text instead, so none of this (from me, at the least) until I am done with text.

The video is actually about both. There are parts that touch on oklab as a color palette basis, but also as an interpolation basis. I think both are relevant to krita, and as I will explain later, I think interpolation might even be more valuable right now.
A while ago, I noticed several qualities of standard color pickers that frustrated me. Namely color-shifted pastels, non-stable lightness, and non-stable saturation. I went down a research rabbit hole about this, and came across oklab, which was a direct response to these problems.
I create a gradient in css with enough granularity that it supercedes sRGB interpolation. I then hand-transfer this to krita using the gradient editor. In order to have live control with how this gradient is applied, I use the gradient on a gradient map. (This application of oklab is quite similar to the shader application that forms the basis of the youtube video.) If I want to select further individual colors I can transfer from the exterior color picker, which allows me to change hue without changing lightness and saturation, change lightness without changing hue and saturation, and change saturation without changing hue and lightness.

They are not assuming that the point is to use sRGB, but rather to use cie xyz. This is still wrong, as I said above. It is also worth noting that oklab would only replace sRGB in very specific areas, and be optional. sRGB still has lots of value as the most universal and bare-bones option, with even its artifacts sometimes being desireable.
The screenshot you shared is comparing the interpolation of
sRGB and oklab. The d50 version of cie lab does not appear to have anything to do with the image. Both sRGB and oklab use a d65 whitepoint. Neither are cie lab.

Now we created a wonderful graphic in Gimp, and asked ourselfs: what would be the best way to convert it to cmyk colorspace? We OWN photoshop, but my goal is to get away from all adobe products (she doesnt use but lightroom); is this separat++ plugin (never tried it) good / pro enough to convert it in gimp?
hey paperdigits. thanks for your answer and help. Krita is the way I will got I think. I will take the graphic that I compozed in Gimp (because my gimp skills are better that other skills) , loaded the finished jpg-file in krita an just converted it. This method was easiest and seems to be ok.
So great to hear that a dev works on cmyk support for gimp. Do you have any further info or link to an info about this?

Depending on your needs, you might also want to try my PhotoFlow editor. It has basic CMYK support. It is for example possible to open a RAW, Jpeg or TIFF image, convert to a CMYK profile, apply some adjustments (like curves) directly on the CMYK channels, and then save the output as a CMYK TIFF file.
Hello Pragomer, there are some options to convert from rgb to cmyk on Linux. Of course there is no native option in Gimp but alternatives are from good to excellent. I work with printing services ( , ) from a long time and I had no problems sending cmyk files from linux.
The first method is using an external application as Cyan
As far as I know it depends on the colors in the image. It can look the same but with some colors it does not. I remember flyer I made years ago in RGB and the text was in a yellowish/golden color. After converting it to CMYK the text had a more neonyellow color.
Embora seja um grande avano o Krita ter sido capaz de introduzir todos esses recursos avanados antes que o GIMP pudesse realizar o mesmo feito, o programa ainda apresenta alguns obstculos quando se trata de certas tarefas comuns de edio de fotos. Tambm h uma quantidade razovel de filtros aqui, incluindo dodge, burn, ajuste de cor e filtros de ajuste de imagem de nveis, filtros artsticos e de desfoque como um filtro Halftone e Gaussian Blur, e filtros de nitidez comuns como Unsharp Mask.
Este tambm o caso se eu adicionar um ajuste de nveis acessando Filtros> Ajustar> Nveis (conforme ilustrado acima), embora esse mtodo ajuste os nveis da imagem diretamente na imagem, em vez de em uma camada de ajuste.
Alm disso, esse filtro requer que voc libere o mouse para ver as alteraes, de modo que voc no pode deslizar os valores para ver os resultados em tempo real dos seus ajustes, como no GIMP. Em vez disso, voc deve arrastar (seta vermelha na imagem acima) e soltar, esperar o resultado ser gerado e repetir. Isso pode causar edies imprecisas e tambm adicionar tempo ao seu fluxo de trabalho. E, na minha opinio, meio irritante.
A ferramenta de nveis do GIMP um pouco mais intuitiva. Em outras palavras, uma ferramenta de nveis totalmente funcional - embora as edies finais ocorram na imagem diretamente e no em uma camada de ajuste.
Alm disso, voc no pode ampliar sua foto enquanto aplica uma Camada de Filtro no Krita - voc fica preso no nvel de zoom em que est quando abre a caixa de dilogo Camada de Filtro. Novamente, o zoom funciona ao aplicar um filtro destrutivo, mas no para as camadas de filtro. No GIMP, voc pode aumentar e diminuir o zoom para ver melhor suas alteraes e verificar se h artefatos ao usar qualquer um dos filtros principais. Mais uma vez, como o Krita usa camadas de filtro ou ajuste, voc pode sempre aplicar o filtro, aumentar o zoom e editar as configuraes do filtro novamente a qualquer momento. Mas essas etapas extras tendem a se somar quando voc est editando muitas imagens ou fazendo muitas edies em uma nica imagem.
A primeira coisa que notei quando esta caixa de dilogo abriu que a visualizao da imagem no lado direito bem pequena e corta uma parte significativa da imagem (seta vermelha na imagem acima). Voc pode rolar para cima ou para baixo em toda a altura da imagem, mas no pode rolar por toda a largura da imagem.
